Product Description
T6 uses the same 30.2 mm pin diameter as T5 but with a 92 mm journal length, increasing rated torque to 830 Nm — a 34% step up from T5. Despite the shared pin diameter, T6 and T5 cross kits are not interchangeable at the shaft level. The T5-to-T6 transition is frequently misunderstood in the market, with buyers assuming the shared 30.2 mm pin diameter makes the series interchangeable in the field. The 34% rated torque difference is operationally significant for contractors running 50–65 hp balers through a full hay season. Specifying T5 where T6 is required results in cross-kit fatigue failure mid-season — the most disruptive failure mode for a baling contractor with fixed delivery commitments.
The shift from T5 to T6 is also relevant for operators who have recently upgraded their tractor from the 40–50 hp class to the 55–70 hp class. The higher PTO output of a 65 hp tractor can push a T5 shaft into peak-torque events on the same implements that previously ran within comfortable T5 margins. Upgrading to T6 provides a reliable torque step-up without the mechanical complexity of specifying a completely different cross-kit diameter series. Installation and Maintenance
Attach safety chain to a fixed non-rotating point on both tractor and implement
Confirm Series Rating
Match tractor PTO output torque at working RPM. Add 20% margin for shock loads. Check cross-kit seat diameter against yoke.
Verify Shaft Length
At max implement height: 50 mm inner tube engagement min. At min height: 80 mm min. Adjust before fitting.
Fit and Lock Yokes
Slide splined yoke onto PTO stub to push-pin engagement. Pull back lightly to confirm lock. Torque bolt-clamp yokes to spec.
Secure Safety Chains
Attach one chain end to tractor guard, other to implement frame. Taut but not load-bearing during normal articulation.
Grease at Installation
Apply 2–3 pumps EP2 grease at each cross-kit nipple before first use. Re-grease every 8 operating hours in the field.
