Product Description
S9 uses the 35×106.5 mm cross kit — the extended journal version of the S8 35 mm pin family. The 12.5 mm journal extension over S8 increases load distribution area and raises continuous torque from 1,050 Nm to 1,240 Nm at 540 rpm. The star tube outer diameter in S9 is larger than S8, placing S9 in the housing category for the most powerful agricultural implements in the 80–100 hp class.
The 35 mm pin diameter workshop tooling (pressing fixtures, snap-ring pliers) used for S8 also applies to S9 — the pin diameter is identical. However, the bearing cup length differs, so cross kits must be ordered by series code. S9 and T9 share the same cross-kit pin diameter and journal length, but the tube profiles differ. For workshops servicing both T Series and S Series in the 35 mm family, a single set of pressing tools covers both.
S9 is the highest S Series model recommended for standard tractor PTO applications in the 75–100 hp class before stepping to S10, which is engineered for the largest available tractors above 100 hp. For selection support and OEM enquiries, contact Ever-Power Drive Line.

Star Tube Profile — Six-Lobe Bore
The star (six-lobe) tube cross-section provides the highest torsional rigidity per unit outer diameter of any standard agricultural PTO tube profile. Specified by European implement OEMs for input housings machined to star bore dimensions — incompatible with triangular or lemon tube profiles.
Sealed Cross-Kit Bearings — IP67
Double-lip sealed needle-roller bearing cups, factory-filled with EP2 lithium complex grease. Grease nipple accessible with shield in place. Rated for 350+ hours between maintenance interventions in standard field conditions.
CE Safety Shield — Standard
CE-marked UV-stabilised HDPE bellows guard matched to S Series tube outer diameter. Spring-clip anchors and chain points at both ends. OECD Code 4 compliant. Included as standard with every S Series unit.
Forged 20CrMnTi Steel Yokes
Drop-forged chromium-manganese-titanium alloy steel yokes, normalised and induction-hardened at bearing seat journals. Designed for sustained peak torque applications in large baler and forage harvester duty cycles.
All Spline Standards Available
1-3/8 inch Z6 (540 rpm), 1-3/4 inch Z20 (1,000 rpm), and 1-3/8 inch Z21 push-pin or bolt-clamp yokes. Both ends specified independently at order.

Large Square Balers — 80–100 hp
High-output square baler plunger and knotting drive on 80–100 hp tractors. S9 handles the sustained 1,240 Nm continuous demand and 2,250 Nm peak of high-throughput square baling without the mass penalty of S10.
Large Forage Harvesters — 85–100 hp
Flywheel drive on larger pull-type forage harvesters. The 35×106.5 mm extended journal cross kit extends bearing life under sustained high-inertia harvester operation compared to S8.
Industrial Rotary Cutters
Heavy-duty industrial rotary cutters and mulchers in the 80–100 hp class where continuous high-torque operation requires the extended journal S9 rather than S8.
Installation and Maintenance
Attach safety chain to a fixed non-rotating point on both tractor and implement
Confirm Torque Class
Calculate implement demand (Nm). Add 20% safety margin. Select the lowest S Series where Nm@540 (or Nm@1000) exceeds the adjusted figure.
Adjust Working Length
Measure coupling centre distance with implement attached. Verify 50 mm min tube overlap at full extension, 80 mm at full compression.
Engage Yoke Connections
Push-pin yoke: engage at PTO stub and confirm audible click and positive retention. Clamp yoke: torque to manufacturer specification.
Anchor Safety Chains
Connect tractor-side chain to guard or frame; implement-side chain to implement body. Verify taut at working height.
Grease Before First Use
Apply EP2 lithium complex NLGI 2 grease (2–3 pumps) to both cross-kit nipples. Service every 8 hours; 4 hours in wet or abrasive conditions.
