Product Description
S8 marks the step to the 35 mm cross-kit pin diameter — a significant increase from the 30.2 mm family of S6 and S7. The 35×94 mm cross kit delivers 1,050 Nm at 540 rpm and 1,900 Nm peak. Workshop tooling, pressing fixtures, and snap-ring pliers must be sized for the 35 mm pin — the 30.2 mm tooling used for S6 and S7 is not compatible. This tooling requirement is the practical reason for stocking S8 cross kits separately from the lower series.
S8 and S38 share the same 35×94 mm cross kit and identical torque ratings. The difference between them lies in the tube outer diameter: S38 uses a narrower star tube profile for specific implement input housings that cannot accommodate the standard S8 star tube OD. If the implement manual specifies S38, do not substitute S8 — the tube interference at the housing will prevent correct installation.
S8 is the standard S Series recommendation for forage harvester drive applications in the 65–90 hp class. For implement builders requiring OEM custom shaft configurations — modified length, specific yoke type, or integrated wide-angle CV joint — contact Ever-Power Drive Line with full hitch and implement specifications.

Star Tube Profile — Six-Lobe Bore
The star (six-lobe) tube cross-section provides the highest torsional rigidity per unit outer diameter of any standard agricultural PTO tube profile. Specified by European implement OEMs for input housings machined to star bore dimensions — incompatible with triangular or lemon tube profiles.
Sealed Cross-Kit Bearings — IP67
Double-lip sealed needle-roller bearing cups, factory-filled with EP2 lithium complex grease. Grease nipple accessible with shield in place. Rated for 350+ hours between maintenance interventions in standard field conditions.
CE Safety Shield — Standard
CE-marked UV-stabilised HDPE bellows guard matched to S Series tube outer diameter. Spring-clip anchors and chain points at both ends. OECD Code 4 compliant. Included as standard with every S Series unit.
Forged 20CrMnTi Steel Yokes
Drop-forged chromium-manganese-titanium alloy steel yokes, normalised and induction-hardened at bearing seat journals. Designed for sustained peak torque applications in large baler and forage harvester duty cycles.
All Spline Standards Available
1-3/8 inch Z6 (540 rpm), 1-3/4 inch Z20 (1,000 rpm), and 1-3/8 inch Z21 push-pin or bolt-clamp yokes. Both ends specified independently at order.

Feeder rotor and knotter drive on compact square balers in the 65–90 hp class. S8 handles the 1,900 Nm peak eject load with the star tube profile specified by European square baler OEM lines.
Heavy Forage Harvesters
Flywheel and feed roller drive on pull-type forage harvesters. Continuous 1,050 Nm operation at 540 rpm with high inertia peaks. The 35 mm pin diameter step from S7 is the correct response to sustained high-load harvesting duty.
Large Mower-Conditioners — 70–90 hp
Disc mower-conditioner main drive where the implement housing specifies a star tube and the continuous demand exceeds S7 capacity. S8 shares the 35 mm pin diameter with S9 and T8.
Installation and Maintenance
Attach safety chain to a fixed non-rotating point on both tractor and implement
Confirm Torque Class
Calculate implement demand (Nm). Add 20% safety margin. Select the lowest S Series where Nm@540 (or Nm@1000) exceeds the adjusted figure.
Adjust Working Length
Measure coupling centre distance with implement attached. Verify 50 mm min tube overlap at full extension, 80 mm at full compression.
Engage Yoke Connections
Push-pin yoke: engage at PTO stub and confirm audible click and positive retention. Clamp yoke: torque to manufacturer specification.
Anchor Safety Chains
Connect tractor-side chain to guard or frame; implement-side chain to implement body. Verify taut at working height.
Grease Before First Use
Apply EP2 lithium complex NLGI 2 grease (2–3 pumps) to both cross-kit nipples. Service every 8 hours; 4 hours in wet or abrasive conditions.
