Product Description

G4 uses the 27×74.6 mm cross kit — the same bearing family as T4 and L4 — but with the CV joint at the tractor end delivering smooth constant-velocity output at angles up to 80 degrees. For the 28–45 hp tractor class, G4 is the correct specification for any implement application where the standard T4 or L4 cardan shaft produces vibration due to the operating angle exceeding 25 degrees.

The 27 mm cross-kit pin diameter in G4 is shared with L3, L4, T3, and T4. Workshop tooling (pressing fixtures, snap-ring pliers) at this pin diameter serves all five series. The CV joint at the tractor end uses a different assembly sequence from the standard cardan joint — follow the G Series installation guide for correct boot fitting and grease loading. The implement end retains a standard cross joint and is maintained identically to T4.

G4 is a high-volume series in markets where disc mowers and front-mounted implements are common. For distributors stocking G Series alongside T Series, G4 and T4 cover complementary applications within the same tractor class — T4 for standard rear-mounted implements within 25 degrees, G4 for high-angle applications. ☈ Component 1: CV Wide Angle Joint

The CV (constant velocity) joint replaces the standard cross joint at the tractor end. It uses a ball-and-socket mechanism to deliver perfectly smooth, constant-velocity output at angles up to 80 degrees — eliminating the speed fluctuation that standard cardan joints produce above 6 degrees.

Key Features

80° Wide Angle CV Joint

The G Series CV joint allows operation at angles up to 80 degrees at the tractor end — more than three times the 25-degree limit of standard T, L, and S Series cardan joints. This enables G Series shafts in front-mounted implement drives, close-coupled mounts, and any application where the shaft angle regularly exceeds the standard cardan limit.

Constant Velocity Output

Standard cardan joints produce a sinusoidal speed variation at the output — the output shaft rotates faster then slower with each revolution, proportional to the operating angle. The G Series CV joint eliminates this variation, delivering perfectly constant-velocity output at any angle up to 80 degrees. This prevents vibration and eliminates implement gearbox acceleration fatigue.

Sealed Cross-Kit Bearings — IP67

Double-lip sealed needle-roller cross-kit bearing cups at the implement end, factory-filled with EP2 lithium complex grease. Grease nipple accessible with shield in place. Rated for 350+ hours between maintenance interventions under normal field conditions.

CE Safety Shield — Standard

CE-marked UV-stabilised HDPE bellows guard. CV joint end fitted with a flexible boot that accommodates the full 80-degree joint movement while protecting the CV joint grease cavity from contamination. OECD Code 4 compliant. Included as standard with every G Series unit.

Forged 20CrMnTi Steel Yokes

Drop-forged chromium-manganese-titanium alloy steel yokes, normalised and induction-hardened at bearing seat journals. The high-angle CV joint body is machined from the same alloy to the same surface hardness specification.

CE + ISO Certification Package

CE Declaration of Conformity, ISO 9001:2015, TS/16949 process certificate, LGPD compliance documentation. SGS third-party batch inspection available on contract orders.

Typical Applications

G4 G Series wide angle CV joint PTO shaft — typical application

G Series CV joint — 28–45 hp tractor class at operating angles up to 80°

Disc Mower-Conditioners — Front Mount

Front-mounted disc mower-conditioners on 30–45 hp tractors require G4 CV joint for smooth operation through the high tractor-implement angles that occur during field turns and headland manoeuvres.

Slurry Tanker Drive — Short Hitch

Slurry tanker PTO pump drives where the pump is mounted close to the tractor, creating a steep operating angle even at normal working height. G4 CV joint maintains smooth pump input at angles that would cause T4 vibration.

Mounted Hay Tedders — Compact Tractors

Compact-mounted tedder drives on 30–45 hp tractors where the implement mounting height creates angles above the standard cardan joint limit. G4 provides smooth continuous drive through the tedder’s full range of implement positions.

Installation and Maintenance

G Series wide angle PTO shaft installation

Inspect the CV joint boot and anchor safety chains at both ends before first use

1

Confirm Torque Class

Calculate implement torque demand + 20% margin. Select the lowest G Series that meets the adjusted Nm figure.

2

Verify Operating Angle

Measure the maximum shaft angle at the tractor end at all implement positions. G Series handles up to 80° at the CV end; 25° at the implement cardan end.

3

Adjust Working Length

Verify 50 mm tube overlap at max implement height; 80 mm engagement at minimum. Tubes must not bottom out.

4

Inspect CV Joint Boot

Before first use, confirm the CV boot is correctly seated and both clamps are tight. A loose boot causes immediate CV joint contamination.

5

Anchor Safety Chains and Engage

Connect safety chains to non-rotating points. Engage PTO at low throttle first to verify smooth CV joint operation before running at full speed.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I use G4 instead of T4?
  • Use G4 when the implement regularly operates above 25 degrees relative to the tractor PTO stub
  • Common situations: front-mounted implements, close-coupled pump drives, compact tractor high-angle mounts
  • Use T4 for standard rear-mounted implements within 25 degrees — T4 is lower cost and simpler to maintain
  • If the implement manufacturer specifies G Series, use G4 — the CV joint is a design requirement, not a preference
How do I inspect the G4 CV joint boot?
  • Inspect the rubber CV joint boot at each seasonal service — before first use and at season end
  • A serviceable boot is intact, flexible, and shows no cracking, tearing, or grease leakage at the clamps
  • A torn boot must be replaced immediately — CV joint grease exposure causes rapid contamination and failure
  • Replacement CV joint boot kits are available — specify G4 when ordering
Does the CV joint at the tractor end affect shaft balance?
  • The G Series is dynamically balanced to ISO G6.3 standard at the factory — same as T Series
  • The CV joint mass is accounted for in the balance specification — G4 does not require field balancing
  • If vibration occurs after replacement, verify that both ends are correctly phased per the installation guide
What spline options are available for G4?
  • Standard: 1-3/8 inch Z6 push-pin yoke (540 rpm) at both ends
  • Available: 1-3/4 inch Z20 (1,000 rpm) for high-speed PTO applications
  • 1-3/8 inch Z21 available for specific European implement inputs
  • Bolt-clamp yoke option available at either or both ends — specify at order
Is the G4 compatible with overrunning clutches?
  • Yes — overrunning clutches compatible with G4 splined yoke are available
  • Fit at the implement end to prevent back-drive from high-inertia implements
  • The CV joint at the tractor end is not affected by the overrunning clutch at the implement end
